Am I not too old for studying?

Sebastian, 2004/06/30 Wed, 6:28 pm

Are you wondering whether your age can stand between you and your goal? This is natural, many people do. The fact is that most people learn faster and easier when they are young. However the answer is more complex than it seems.

Let's take a look at your life from the very beginning. You were born and everything was new for you. Having a situation like that the only way you could survive was to discover and study your surrounding. Every day you had new experiences and they confirmed that if you learn you will get more out of your life.

After that you continued learning in the kindergarten, in your schools. There was always something new to learn.

The problem began when you got your first job. At first it was okay because you probably had a training, and again you had to learn how to do your job properly. But then as you got used to your job, everything became a routine. There was no need anymore to learn anything new.

So the real question is not how old you are, but how long have you not learned anything new. Like your muscles get weaker if you don't train them, your brain gets used to not getting new information. And this is the reason why you are overwhelmed when you try to study after a long break. The longer the break the harder it is to study again.

So instead of blaming your age, start as soon as possible studying again because it is the only way you can gain control over your progress again.
