Listen to the radio

Sebastian, 2004/06/30 Wed, 4:28 pm

You might not be able to listen to native speakers in real life. If you are lucky enough, there are foreign language radio and TV stations in your country. If not, the second best thing you can do is listening to Internet radio channels.

Compared to the television, the main benefit of listening to the radio is that you can do something else while listening. While doing house chores make sure your radio is on. If you are using a computer a lot the obvious and benefiticial way is that you just start your media software and keep it in the background while working.

It doesn't matter whether you're really listening to the contents, since chances are that most of the time you won't be able to do so. This method is exactly the same as newborns use before they begin to understand the language around them. They are just surrounded by talking people all the time, and that's enough for them to get used to the intonation, stress and other characteristics of the language.
